United has partnered with the Spider-Man franchise for its latest inflight safety video, which will be shown across the airline’s network from June through October.
The video is part of a broader promotional partnership between United and Sony Pictures and is being rolled out ahead of the July 2 U.S. release of the feature film “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
The safety video, which runs nearly 5 minutes, features United flight attendants alongside Hollywood actors and Spider-Man himself.
In one scene, actor Hemky Madera, as the shop clerk Mr. Delmar, is saved from villains by Spider-Man. But when Spider-Man uses his web to pull Delmar into an aircraft seat, it provides a flight attendant an opportunity to explain how to buckle the seatbelt.
In another scene, actor Tony Revolori, who plays Eugene “Flash” Thompson in the film, is intimidated by Spider-Man into stowing his laptop as he sits on a park bench while a flight attendant explains the rules for using and stowing electronic devices in-flight.
Along with featuring the Spider-Man safety video this summer, United will offer movie-themed amenity kits in its Polaris business class. United Plus members can also use points to bid for a ticket to the world premiere of “Spider Man: Far From Home” in Los Angeles on June 26 and for tickets to view the movie in one of several cities on July 1, one day before the general release.
