UK-based Der Touristik will launch a new online platform for clients to tailor-make tours.
Meraki Travel was launched at the Abta Travel Convention in Spain on Tuesday, October 9, and will be rolled out into the Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa tourism industries over the next few months. The platform allows customers to plan, customise and book trips online.
Customers will be able to access the platform via Meraki’s office in London, where they will make use of an experiential space with large touch screens and staff available to help advise on itinerary options.
Meraki’s General Manager, Matt Hodgson, described the platform as ‘quite gamified’ in its feel. The site offers customers live pricing and itineraries that can be saved, shared and paid for online. Derek Jones, CEO of Der Touristik UK, says the platform is aimed at a specific market and is different to the organisation’s current brands like Kuoni. “We’re appealing to customers who don’t know or currently consider the Kuoni brand or our other specialist businesses,” he said.
