Travellers in India recently got the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the tourist attractions of Fiji in a three-city roadshow organised by Tourism Fiji. The roadshows were conducted in New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai for travel agents to explore destinations in Fiji and educate travellers about them.
A range of resorts were present in the show to showcase their properties to the Indian travellers. They were also accompanied by Rosie Holidays and representatives from Fiji Airways.
“India is a growing market for us. Last year we received 4,000 visitors from India registering an approximate growth of 15% and for this year too we have set a target of double digit growth,” said Vaijayanthi Kari, India Representative, Tourism Fiji.
Couples, honeymooners, families and groups in particular from Tier-I cities in India are some travel groups that Fiji is currently banking on.
Fiji Airways also launched a direct flight from Singapore to Fiji recently. “With the direct flight connectivity from Asia, we are hopeful of increase in tourist arrivals to Fiji. We are promoting this new flight service at the roadshows. Travellers from Asia and India in particular reach Fiji easily via Singapore,” said, Wenchi Wang, Regional General Manager, Asia, Fiji Airways.
