Silver Airways has completed its acquisition of Seaborne Airlines.
The merger joins the Florida and Bahamas networks of Silver with Seaborne’s Puerto Rico-based Caribbean network.
The closing of the deal comes on the heels of the companies’ decision to merge in January. Seaborne, which was hard-hit by hurricanes Irma and Maria last September, used the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process to facilitate the deal.
For now, Silver will run the two airlines under their existing brands and with their existing networks. The merged fleet consists of a combined 31 Saab 340B turboprops and de Havillland Twin Otter seaplanes. Silver also has taken delivery of the first of 20 46-seat ATR-42s.
Tickets for Silver and Seaborne will continue to be available on their respective websites. The two carriers will initially operate under their respective air certificates.
“The merger of the two airlines’ operating functions, joint branding, and streamlining of the guest experience is expected to occur during the next year,” Silver said.
