During Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s visit to India, he signed a new air service agreement with Indian aviation officials. Under this agreement, RwandAir will soon be flying to India through Mumbai, which is expected to be in the second quarter of 2017.
With investments by Indian companies in Rwanda, trade and tourism are expected to be the key beneficiaries when direct flights are launched between Kigali and Mumbai, using the airline’s new Airbus A330 aircraft to serve the route, initially probably three times a week.
The airline also confirmed that flights to Harare, Zimbabwe, are now launching in April this year. The new destination will be served in conjunction with Zambia’s Lusaka while at that stage flights to South Africa will revert to non-stop services. Lilongwe, Bamako, and Conakry are also on the drawing board for more African destinations during 2017.
