Come February 2020, the Ritz-Carlton will conquer luxury at sea and the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection‘s first yacht sets sail for the first time.
Named Azora, which means “sky blue”, derived from “azure” and azul (Spanish for blue), it will hold 298 passengers in an elegant atmosphere with 149 opulent suites and two magnificent owner’s suites.
Blue is also one of Ritz-Carlton’s signature colors.
“We wanted to select a name that embodies the wanderlust of a luxury journey at sea and inspires travelers to dream of their next destination,” the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection CEO Doug Prothero said in a statement. “Azora, which evokes the beauty of the sky and ocean, does both.”

Earlier this fall, the Azora got its first taste of the sea when splashed down at the Hijos De J. Barreras Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.
The milestone was commemorated in accordance with longstanding maritime tradition, celebrated a significant moment in the shipbuilding process where after a ceremonial blessing, the yacht slid sternfirst down the slipway and touched water for the first time.
The Azora, which will offer bespoke voyages, is the first of three custom-built yachts. Most voyages range from seven to 10 nights, offering many overnight calls and uniquely curated experiences ashore.
And as with the Ritz-Carlton on land, each yacht will feature personalized service, elevated dining at Azora’s signature restaurant designed by Michelin-starred chef Sven Elverfeld of The Ritz-Carlton, luxury amenities, spa treatments, and immersive excursions.
