Phiri Tourism Consortium has unveiled plans to build a cultural village and lodge, with completion expected in 2018. Bona Botswana Lodge will be less than 100km from the Khama Rhino Sanctuary on the way to Maun.
Phiri Tourism Consortium is a Botswana-based youth owned tourism company founded in 2011 by Tebogo Phiri, offering destination and event management services.
“Among the traditions and cultures of the area that will be shared with visitors is the culture of the Basarwa, Bangwato and other tribes in the Boteti, Ngami and entire Central District,” said Phiri. He added that the offering to tourists would include bush walks, transfers to Khama Rhino Sanctuary, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve as well as history lessons on Botswana culture. Tourists can also enjoy traditional meals, bird watching and horse rides.
“This project seeks to become a replicable model demonstrating successful cultural tourism and conservation efforts in Botswana,” said Phiri.
He said the facility would be able to accommodate more than 70 guests in chalets, permanent tents, and traditional huts. There will also be a campsite.
