Dionne Mutsonziwa has been appointed Manager of Victoria Falls Safari Club.
Mutsonziwa, who was previously Food and Beverage Manager of the Victoria Falls Hotel, and more recently Manager of Zambezi House – Bar & Canteen, will begin her new role on April 23.
She has a degree from Les Roche International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland, and has worked in management positions at the St Regis and Grand Hyatt hotel groups in Washington DC, US.
Mark Rimmer has been engaged, for a limited period, as a Consultant Chef to open Victoria Falls Safari Club’s new kitchen and restaurant.
Africa Albida Tourism Chief Executive, Ross Kennedy, said Rimmer, who is a product of Silwood School of Cookery in Cape Town, has had stints at well-known restaurants in the Cape.
Among them are Terrior in Stellenbosch, The Cellars-Hohenhort, The Pot Luck Club and The Test Kitchen in Cape Town under the tutorship of Chef Luke Dale-Roberts.
The current manager of Victoria Falls Safari Club, Augustine Maungwe, will take up the position of Assistant Food and Beverage Manager.
The South African Chefs Association (SA Chefs) has elected James Khoza as its new President at its Annual General Meeting held in Johannesburg on March 28.
Khoza takes over from Stephen Billingham, who has served as SA Chefs President since 2009, and is the first black South African chef to hold the title.
The Westin Hotel in Cape Town has appointed Stephen Mandes as Head Chef of its flagship restaurant, ON19.
Prior to joining the ON19 team, Mandes spent time in hotel and restaurant kitchens around the city, including the Mount Nelson Hotel, the Cape Grace, Mondiall Kitchen & Bar, Restaurant Jardine and De Grendel Wine.
Mandes, a culinary arts graduate and 2014 winner of the Ultimate Braai Master says: “For me, cooking has always come naturally. I am fortunate, as I get to cook amazing dishes and perfect my craft very day; no two days are the same.”
