Camp Jabulani in Hoedspruit has successfully introduced an orphaned baby elephant, Timisa, into its herd.
On November 19, Adine Roode, owner of Camp Jabulani, was told by Michelle Henley from Elephants Alive about an elephant calf found wandering on its own. It was speculated that the mother had died two weeks earlier. Roode decided that it was best to take the calf to Camp Jabulani where she would be introduced to the resident elephant herd.
The next day Timisa was introduced to the herd, which welcomed the calf. She attached herself to the matriarch and is now thriving.
