NEW TECHNOLOGIES, such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), blockchain, and voice technology are helping companies transform the travel industry.
Leading global hotel company Marriott International, which was previously testing both Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, will be rolling out the new Alexa for Hospitality voice assistant technology to its hotel rooms.
“Alexa for Hospitality integrates seamlessly with your existing amenities and services, to become your guests’ virtual concierge,” Amazon wrote.
How does Alexa for Hospitality work?

Amazon will customize Echo devices for hotels and once installed, guests will be able to ask Alexa for information about the hotel such as “Alexa, where is the fitness center?” or “Alexa, what time does the pool open?”
The programme will also enable guests to contact services like in-room dining, the concierge, the front desk, housekeeping, the spa, and so on. Imagine, just by saying “Alexa, send up two more towels” or “Alexa, order room service”, you’ll be getting exactly what you need. Likely, without having to lift a finger.
Additionally, Alexa can simplify numerous in-room tasks for guests such as playing music, controlling the temperature or lighting, and making calls. She will even be able to help you find local restaurants and attractions. All you need to do is ask.
Can’t seem to get out of the plush bed? Call out, “Alexa, help me check out” and she’ll have you sorted. There hasn’t been a more immersive customer experience.
Marriott offers 30 hotel brands across 5700+ locations in more than 110 countries.
Alexa for Hospitality will be available at select properties in Marriott Hotels, Westin Hotels & Resorts, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Aloft Hotels, and Autograph Collection Hotels this summer.
The system will also be available by invitation to other hospitality providers beginning today.
