The deadline date to enter the sixth National Lilizela Tourism Awards has been extended due to high interest and the number of entries already received.
The entry date for South Africa’s premier travel and tourism awards has been extended from May 31 to June 8, giving South Africa’s accommodation establishments, tourism-related products and services an additional week to enter the country’s premier travel and tourism awards.
Launched in 2013 by the National Department of Tourism, the Lilizela Tourism Awards aim to recognise, commemorate and celebrate businesses across the tourism value chain for their commitment and service to the tourism industry.
South African Tourism CEO, Sisa Ntshona says: “The tourism industry is an important sector and contributes towards South Africa’s economy and job creation. The Lilizela Tourism Awards gives us the opportunity to not only celebrate passionate and committed trailblazers, but to also showcase the diversity of the products and services that add to the uniqueness of our country’s tourism offering,” reports Mpumalanga News.
The National Department of Tourism, together with SA Tourism will be hosting the National Lilizela Tourism Awards in October, while provincial awards will take place in September, during Tourism Month.
Accommodation establishments wanting to enter are required to be graded with the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA). Those who are yet to be graded are encouraged to do so by visiting the TGCSA website here.
“The TGCSA is the only recognised and globally benchmarked quality assurance body for tourism products in South Africa and is part of South African Tourism’s ongoing drive to promote service excellence,” concludes Ntshona.
