The opening of the beachfront Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa on Grand Cayman marks the international debut of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants as well as Grand Cayman’s first new hotel in more than 10 years.
Kimpton, acquired by InterContinental Hotels Group in 2014, manages 65 hotels.
Kimpton Seafire’s 266 guestrooms overlook Seven Mile Beach, famed for its sunsets. The Seafire name, in fact, refers to Seven Mile Beach and the sunsets that can be viewed from most vantage points at the resort.
“Grand Cayman was the perfect choice for Kimpton’s first island resort,” said Steven Andre, Seafire general manager. “Seafire embodies the spirit and culture of the destination and will allow guests to immerse themselves in island life.”
The new property, about a mile north of the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, offers two oceanview pools and meandering walkways. Three free-standing beachside bungalows offer one and two-bedroom layouts and beach access out the door.
The resort features signature restaurant Ave, beach bar Coccoloba and Avecita, a nine-seat chef’s bar where food is prepared on a wood-fired grill and plancha. Two pool bars serve light bites and drinks.
The 8,500-square-foot Spa at Seafire offers a Turkish-style hamman and seven treatment rooms.
Camp Seafire is open to children from four to 12 years.
Besides the hotel rooms, the property houses 62 condominiums adjacent to the resort, which will open in 2017.
Guests at the Residences at Seafire will have access to all Seafire amenities, a private rooftop for social events, concierge services and a beach view from every unit. Kimpton will not be managing that component.
