Sun Africa Group of Hotels is planning to offer more affordable tourism packages in a bid to entice both local and international tourists.
The Sun Africa Group of Hotels Managing Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Rahul Sood, said the group supported destination Kenya, and was feeding into the government’s strategies of boosting tourism growth. “The development of an interactive Kenya Tourism Portal to promote and manage bookings and distribution of domestic guests under the Tourism Stimulus Programme, Charter Incentive Programme, as well as boosting both security and improving infrastructure, are lauded by the government,” he said.
Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel and Spa, Mombasa, one of the group’s oldest hotels, was recently refurbished. Sun Africa Hotels Group General Manager, James Rattos, said the group was preparing to brand its two units in Mombasa before applying to the Tourism Regulatory Authority.
These are the 177-room Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel and Spa and its boutique property, the Sun Africa Beach Resort. Rattos said the process was delayed while the refurbishments were being completed.
The first phase of the hotels’ refurbishment is complete, with the last phase nearing completion. The hotel group is also focusing on tapping into conference tourism since Mombasa is becoming a popular conference destination, with several regional and international meetings being held in the city.
Sun Africa Group of Hotels, one of the oldest hotel chains in Kenya, has several facilities across the country that include Sun Africa Hotel Nairobi, Sovereign Suites in Nairobi, Luxury Camp in Lake Naivasha and Maasai Mara. Others are Lake Baringo Club, Lake Naivasha Country Club and Keekorok Lodge.
