On Dec. 21, Jalisco’s covernor, Enrique Alfaro Ramirez, announced that the state would implement some updates to its Covid-19 recovery plan. The newly issued restrictions, which went into effect Dec. 25 and end Jan. 10, have been applied to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, though there are slight differences between the two destinations.
For Puerto Vallarta:
• All bars and nightclubs must close at 7 p.m.
• All New Year’s Eve events or gatherings of any kind are prohibited, although restaurants and
hotels in Puerto Vallarta are allowed to operate during New Year’s Eve.
• It is forbidden to use any type of fireworks or pyrotechnics.
• Hotels are permitted to operate at 75% capacity.
• Gyms, spas, restaurants, beaches, shopping malls, the malecon, tours and activities are permitted at 50% capacity.
For Guadalajara:
• All services, department stores, shopping malls, gyms, commercial corridors, event venues, clubs, restaurants, food stands, bars and nightclubs will close at 7 p.m.
• Restaurants will only operate with “service to go” after 7 p.m.
• During weekends all shopping malls, commercial corridors and markets will remain closed.
• All events, including those in private venues, are prohibited.
• All New Year’s Eve events in hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and private venues are prohibited.
