SYDNEY’S new harborside exhibition and convention center is paving the way as the city’s premier destination for MICE-related events, with operations to officially begin in December.
The venue will also hold the Associations Forum’s National Conference in July 2017, and the Australasian Society of Association Executives Conference and Exhibition in May next year.
Geoff Donaghy, chief executive officer of ICC Sydney, said, “Interest in ICC Sydney is booming, with over 100 major conventions and exhibitions confirmed.”
We are building a strong case for the venue as a world leader and clients are responding to our integrated offering, cutting-edge facilities and flexible meeting spaces, along with the center’s contemporary design and unbeatable location.”
Earlier this month, the convention center announced that it was pumping in US$250,000 into professional development for its operational workforce.

The center is collaborating with TAFE New South Wales to deliver nationally recognized qualifications to staff to foster a more motivated team of business events and hospitality professionals.
At the moment, finishing touches are being implemented to the venue before its doors officially open in December.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the venue will be upgraded into a more sophisticated convention center and exhibition ground, with over 70 meeting rooms and an 8,000-seat theatre.
State Premier Mike Baird said the convention center had potential to attract a “world cup of economic activity” in the coming year.
“We’re very confident that we are delivering it on time and there are a number of events lined up, what we will see now is our ability to compete with the best of the best,” he added.
Upon completion, ICC Sydney will be Australia’s first and largest integrated center for conventions, meetings and exhibitions.
