Fly Air Italy to Milan from New York and Miami (launched June 1 and 8)
Details — Great news for anyone in the mood for a vacation in one of northern Italy’s most beautiful cities: While Norwegian Air recently had to cancel its planned service from LAX, Air Italy has gone ahead and launched not one, but two routes to Milan (MXP), with daily nonstop service from New York (JFK) and four flights per week from Miami (MIA) on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays aboard the carrier’s A330-200s. Translation: if you’re looking for an excuse to do an epic Italian shopping trip, this is it!

American Airlines Adds 27 New Routes to Its Network (launched June 7 and 9)
Details — It was a big month for American Airlines, which launched a whopping 24 new domestic routes as well as three new international flights between Miami (MIA) and Bonaire (BON), Chicago (ORD) and Calgary (YYC), and Dallas (DFW) and Reykjavik (KEF), perhaps in response to WOW Air’s DFW–KEF route that launched last month. The new flights will be operated by a mix of the carrier’s CRJ700, CRJ200, E145, E175, B757, B738 and A319 aircraft.

Delta Debuts Service from LAX to Paris and Amsterdam, Adds Four More Domestic Routes (launched June 8 and 18)
Details — Earlier this month, Delta began offering nonstop service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris (CDG) three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, as well as nonstop service from LAX to Amsterdam (AMS) four times per week on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Four domestic flights were also launched this month, including a new transcon route from San Jose (SJC) to New York (JFK) with its 737-800, service from Seattle (SEA) to Kansas City (MCI) aboard its E175, a new flight from SEA to Washington-Dulles (IAD) aboard the 737-800 and a new route from SEA to Indianapolis (IND) aboard the A319. Note that both flights from LAX to Europe will be operated by the carrier’s 777-200s.

Details — As of June 14, South Florida folks can fly nonstop from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Santiago De Los Caballeros (STI) in the Dominican Republic thanks to a new JetBlue route that launched this month. Flights are operated with the carrier’s A320 aircraft which may or may not be redesigned as per JetBlue’s roll-out depending on when you fly.

Details — Alooooooha! Earlier this month, Hawaiian Airlines launched daily nonstop service from Long Beach (LGB) aboard the carrier’s A321neo, giving Southern California residents in need of an epic Hawaiian beach vacation yet another way to make it happen.

Alaska Airlines to Fly Nonstop Between Sacramento and Kona, Hawaii
Details — Starting December 20, folks on the West Coast will be able to fly nonstop from Sacramento (SMF) to Kona (KOA) thanks to a new Alaska Airlines route expected to operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Note that return flights will leave KOA three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between December 20 and January 5 before switching to Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from January 6 on. And while the Big Island of Hawaii has been making news lately because of its resident active volcano, rest assured that your trip to Kona will not be affected by the dramatic scenes of hot, spewing lava — it’s actually a 2.5-hour drive from all the action.

American Airlines to Expand US Service Starting in November
Details — Like I said, it’s been a busy month over at American Airlines between all the flights launched in June and the announcement of eight new domestic routes slated for November and December 2018. The Dallas (DFW) to Buffalo (BUF) route will be operated by an A319, while the DFW to Sarasota (SRQ) route will use a CRJ700 and the DFW–ILM route, a CRJ900. The DFW to Del Rio (DRT) route will be operated by an ERJ140, while ERJ145s will serve the Miami (MIA) to Greenville (GSP) and MIA to Knoxville (TYS) routes. Both flights from New York (LGA) to Charleston (CHS) and Savannah (SAV) will be aboard E175 aircraft.

Details — If you happen to be in Florida and are thinking of planning a trip to Europe this fall, you’re in luck! Norwegian Air has announced plans to launch nonstop service from Orlando (MCO) to Stockholm (ARN) on Mondays and Fridays starting October 29, service from Tampa (TPA) to London (GTW) on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting October 31, service from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Madrid (MAD) on Tuesdays and Saturdays and service from FLL to Rome (FCO) on Tuesdays and Fridays. The carrier also released plans for adjustments to its current winter schedule.
