EMIRATES will soon be debuting a new facial recognition technology meant to quicken the check-in and immigration process at airports.
Touchpoints will be introduced at Dubai International Airport while automated access will be available at Emirates’ First and Business Class Lounges.
The technology will sync with data from passengers’ UAE Wallet, an app-enabled “smart” wallet that acts as a substitute for passports. The wallet contains passenger information and flight details.
Adel Al Redha, Emirates executive vice president and chief operations officer, said the airline’s investment for equipment and changing operations was to benefit the end user.
“We are all on the same page when it comes to wanting to deliver the best experience for visitors coming to and through Dubai, and we look forward to bringing these projects to fruition and introducing more enhancements in the coming months,” he said.
The new measure comes amid the reinstating of the Trump travel ban that complicates travel from the Middle East. The US revived a ban that would effectively deny entry to passengers from six Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East.
