The Tanzanian government has plans to revamp the cash-strapped national carrier by purchasing new aircraft to boost the tourism and transport sectors.
According to an article by Reuters, Tanzanian President John Magufuli said the government wanted to increase direct flights between Tanzania and Asian and European markets to increase annual foreign visitor arrivals beyond the current level of around one million.
Last week, Tanzania signed a deal with Bombardier to buy two CS300 jetliners and one Q400 turboprop aircraft for $200m, while in September it received two additional Bombardier Q400 aircraft at a cost of $62m.
