IN AN ATTEMPT to beat a record it already holds, Dubai announced the opening of the “world’s new tallest hotel” on Sunday.

The new Gevora Hotel reaches 365m into the sky, the equivalent of a quarter of a mile -tall and 50m taller than London’s Shard.
This new build only surpasses the old tallest hotel in the world, JW Marriott Marquis, by a mere one meter, but that’s all it takes to claim the spot.
To put it into perspective, the new 75-story building is three times taller than London’s Big Ben and 56m higher than the Eiffel Tower.
Once guests are done admiring the awesomeness of the building, they can enter through gold-plated revolving doors which lead to a world of luxury.
Each of the 528 guest rooms and suites are immaculately decorated with high-end fixtures and fittings and deluxe bedding for the most sublime night’s sleep.
Another key feature of this hotel is the four on-site restaurants and the rooftop pool which gives guests an ultra-high bird’s eye view of the expansive city below.
Gevora fits perfectly in place within a city dominated by luxury shopping malls and expensive investments, such as the world’s largest indoor ski center.
Guests have been staying there since Monday night’s lavish opening ceremony.
