Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using The Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through the Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.
Now’s the time to book a trip to Bermuda for a quick blast of sunshine on the cheap. American Airlines and Delta are currently offering great fares out of about a dozen US cities starting at $57 one-way and $229 round-trip. If you’d prefer spending less cash out of pocket, redeem Delta SkyMiles to book your flight for 6,000 miles one-way or 12,000 miles round-trip — but you’ll need to pay around $125 in taxes and fees. Alternatively, you could book a cheap one-way ticket to Bermuda and then book the return using miles.
While Delta awards book in the main cabin, all of the discounted cash fares we’re seeing are for basic economy, which means that you won’t have the usual carry-on allowance (applies to AA, but not Delta), be able to select your seat, get an upgrade or earn elite qualifying credits as per usual. However, it’s possible to defeat many of basic economy’s negative aspects by having airline elite status or a co-branded airline credit card.
The discounted fares are available starting now, Bermuda’s peak summer season, through June 2019. The easiest way to find these bargains is to search for dates via Google Flights, then book on Orbitz, Expedia or directly with the airline itself. If you want to make sure that your ticket includes a carry-on bag, you can use Google Flights’ newest feature, which allows you to filter out no-carry-on fares.
