The first piece of steel was cut for the Carnival Celebration at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, officially starting construction of Carnival Cruise Line’s next Excel-class ship, scheduled to debut next year.
It will be the sister ship to the recently delivered Mardi Gras.

Like Mardi Gras, the ship will have the Bolt roller coaster among other new design features.
A ceremony to mark the steel cutting was attended by Carnival’s senior vice president of newbuilds, Ben Clement, and Meyer Turku CEO Tim Meyer.
