TO keep pace with the ever-changing face of modern travel, Travel Wire Asia is also evolving with a progressive new look that encapsulates our adventurous spirit and trailblazing attitude.
This is the Digital Age, where the borderless world is an imminent reality and time and space are no longer barriers to mankind’s innate desire to explore and connect with the unknown.
Our global publishing group Hybrid, has embraced the idea that this is the age of the ‘digitally connected global citizen’ and incorporated this into our new focus and design.
Explaining the concept, Hybrid founder and managing director James Craven, says:
“The connected global citizen is a person who cares about his or her global footprint. He is socially and politically aware, smart, progressive, free and independent-minded, and recognizes the value of shared interests and experiences.”
Craven says Hybrid, as the publisher of Travel Wire Asia, has been watching changes in the travel landscape closely, and sees there’s a gap in the market – particularly in Asia – for content relevant to this new breed of traveler.
With the connected global citizen in mind, we built our brand new website, sharpened its editorial strategy and unveiled its new look today.
The relaunch follows Hybrid’s rebrand in July and its relaunch of Tech Wire Asia shortly after in October, all of which Craven chalks up to the firm’s success so far in the global media landscape.

Travel Wire Asia was launched in 2012 as part of a Tourism Malaysia blogging project publishing contributions from dozens of global freelancers about their experiences travelling through Asia.
Since then, we have evolved dramatically; Travel Wire Asia’s very own content creation department was set up early 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and its sales teams expanded from Hybrid’s growing offices in Bristol, UK; and Sydney, Australia.
This year, Travel Wire Asia will be read by over 12 million unique visitors and generate over US$395,000 in advertising and branded content revenues. By end-2019, we expect to hit over 2 million monthly uniques. Along the way, we have worked with numerous tourism boards, airlines and some of hospitality’s biggest names, from the likes of Wyndham to Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton, to name a few.
In line with Craven’s vision, our new and improved Travel Wire Asia seeks to be the region’s number one content platform for stories, trends and issues relevant to the global, digitally connected traveler heading to Asia for business or leisure. Our editorial strategy is a combination of stories about smart technology, compelling destinations, unique experiences and stays, travel tips and tricks for the discerning traveler, industry trends and news.
“We tell stories from the lens of Asian residents, recognizing that travelers to the region want local knowledge about where to go, what to do and the best way to get there,” Craven explains.
“And we speak from a place of credibility and influence… because we are who we write for.”
The journey of Travel Wire Asia so far has indeed been an adventure, and we’d like to thank you, our audience, for supporting us. As we evolve and grow, we will stay true to our mission to bring you more compelling media that rings relevant to your needs and interests as global citizens. As the next stage of our journey begins, we hope that you’ll come along for the ride.
Apart from Travel Wire Asia, Hybrid’s current websites include Asian Correspondent, Tech Wire Asia and Study International. In October 2017, traffic to the combined portfolio exceeded 8.5 million unique visitors.
