THE season for sakura has come and travelers are reveling in photo opportunities. Even in Singapore.
The pink and white flowers, including the Prunus Accolade and Prunus subhirtella species, bloom on local soil in a temperature-controlled environment.
Gardens by the Bay chief operating officer Felix Loh told Straits Times: “Despite the challenges of bringing sakura to Singapore, we were encouraged by the positive response from the public last year to explore another floral display this year.”
To commemorate the bloom, The Flower Dome also features a Japanese-inspired landscape complete with tree-lined pathways and rickshaws for photo opportunities.
The Blossom Bliss sakura display runs until March 24 and daily updates are posted on the Gardens’ Facebook page.
