A NEW airline is traversing Cambodian skies, adding to the four local airlines currently operated by the kingdom.
In the initial stages, JC will operate two domestic routes using a fleet of two 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The routes will cover Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.
The airline’s chief executive officer Dongyan Huang said: “We will add three more planes throughout this year, including one in June, another in October and the other in December, to expand flights to Asean, China, Japan and South Korea.”
The Cambodian Civil Aviation has urged the airline to comply with international standards and requirements, adding the launch of JC is a sign the country’s aviation industry is swiftly progressing.
Last year, Cambodia welcomed five million inbound visitors, 830,000 of whom were Chinese. The kingdom is projected to receive seven million visitors, including two million from China, by 2020.
To handle the influx of Chinese tourists, Cambodia launched the China Ready Centre (CRC) last year to train local tourist operators and agents to deal with Chinese clients.
