The flights, each of which will operate twice per week, will ferry travelers between the popular beach destination and Kansas City; Austin; Cleveland; Peoria, Ill.; Louisville; Columbus, Ohio; Springfield, Mo.; Indianapolis; Baltimore; Pittsburgh and Newark.
“A new base in Destin-Fort Walton Beach will allow us to better serve travelers, including those in Louisville, who we welcome today as a brand new city in our network,” Allegiant chief operating officer Jude Bricker said in a statement.
Allegiant will be the first ultra-low-cost carrier to serve Louisville and will join American, Delta, Southwest and United at Louisville’s Standiford Field. The small business-centric carrier OneJet also flies a lone route from Louisville.
Allegiant will fly twice weekly year-round from Louisville to the Florida destinations of Fort Lauderdale, Orlando Sanford, St. Pete-Clearwater and Punta Gorda. Along with the summer Destin route, the carrier is also adding a seasonal flight from Louisville to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Service on all of the new Louisville routes will begin between May 24 and May 26.
Service on all of the seasonal routes that Allegiant announced Tuesday will end during the last week of August with the exception of Louisville-Savannah, which ends Aug. 14.
Allegiant is offering promotional fares on all the new routes starting at between $42 and $69 one-way. The flight must be purchased by Jan. 13 for travel by Aug. 15.
