AIRKENYA, the oldest operator to Lamu and the pioneer airline to offer scheduled flights into Ukunda, will suspend the three coastal routes of Diani, Lamu and Malindi, effective January 11, 2019.
The carrier said the coastal routes of Ukunda, Lamu and Malindi had seen tremendous growth in seat capacity over the last few years.
With this in mind, and as the routes are now well served, AIRKENYA decided to suspend its operations on the three routes. “This gives the company the chance to serve you better regionally and deploying capacity to where it’s needed more,” said AIRKENYA in a statement.
AIRKENYA subsidiary airline, Regional Air Services, Tanzania, will be given a boost with a Dash 8 service from Serengeti to Zanzibar, effective December 1.
And from June 1, 2019, and subject to regulatory approval, AIRKENYA will operate a Mara-Entebbe- Mara service via Kisumu to link with its Ugandan subsidiary, AeroLink Uganda, for onward connection to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley National Park, thus cementing its East Africa Safari circuit.
“AIRKENYA is committed to increasing choice for our clients while ensuring our passengers enjoy the highest safety and quality standards at all times,” read the statement.
