Two new visa application centres are to open in New Zealand, the South African High Commission in Wellington has confirmed. The centres will be responsible for receiving applications from February 14 and will be run by VFS Global.
This follows the implementation of visa requirements for New Zealand nationals effective January 2017. The trade previously raised concerns that the only way to apply was in person at the South African High Commission in Wellington.
According to Scoop New Zealand passport holders in Australia do not have to travel to New Zealand and can apply for visas at the South African High Commission in Canberra, while those in other countries can also submit their applications at the nearest South African embassy, High Commission or local VFS visa application centre. However, the South African High Commission in Wellington could not confirm this.
One of the new centres is in Wellington at the Plimmer Tower and the other is in the Regus Business centre in Auckland. Both centres will operate from 08h30-15h00, Monday to Friday.
