The luxury resort company prides itself on having outstanding corporate social responsibility and community relations values. The hotel community is nestled inside a wider network of properties, restaurants and leisure facilities that provide a wealth of jobs and opportunities to the surrounding community.
In delivering its services, Laguna turns back profits into a strong ethically-motivated focus on socially responsible business that affects all stakeholders in a quest to deliver environmental and social benefits alongside increasing economic performance.
With strong focuses on cultural diversity, social equity, educational empowerment, health, sports promotion and environment preservation, it is little wonder Laguna Phuket wanted to make a song and dance of its 30th anniversary.
“More than 30 years ago, our founders discovered this very unique location. What was once a barren land transformed into a fantastic destination with an array of deluxe hotels, residential communities and great facilities,” Stuart David Reading, the senior vice president of group property development at Laguna Banyan Tree Limited, said during his opening remarks at the celebratory event.
The anniversary was marked at the Banyan Café, Banyan Tree Phuket resort. Nearly 200 attendees from across the private and public sectors came to celebrate the landmark occasion, which included traditional Thai performances and showcases of future Laguna Phuket products. The night concluded with a performance by Thailand’s leading vocalist Rudklao Amratisha.
“We are also proud to be known as a leader in sustainable community development with many long-term CSR programmes, one of which is the Laguna Phuket Kindergarten, who celebrates its 25th anniversary this year,” added Reading.
Sustainable travel and tourism is a popular topic that is predicted to feature heavily in 2018. Hopefully, other luxury resorts can learn from the work of Laguna Phuket and build tourism reputations the benefits travelers, hotels and surrounding communities.
