There are some programs that get you free museum admission year-round, such as corporate memberships and Chase Private Client, but only select program participants are able to take advantage. Today, however, free museum access is available to all, as part of Smithsonian Magazine‘s Museum Day Live.
For one day only (Saturday, September 24, 2016), you can access more than 1,200 museums around the country completely free. Each ticket is valid for two people. Here’s how to get them:
1. Visit this page and find a participating museum (there are a ton — just look at the map below)
2. Fill out this form and receive your tickets instantly via email and downloadable PDF.
I’m using this program to visit the Intrepid Museum in NYC later today — regular non-member tickets cost $26, so just a minute of work saved me $52. It doesn’t appear that there’s a limit to the number of museums you can download tickets for (though you are limited to two people per household), so this could be a great opportunity to visit some new venues in your home city or during your travels.
